Go Deeper, See More – SSI Advanced Open Water

The ocean is big. Don't stay in the shallow end. You’ve mastered the basics—now it’s time to explore. The SSI Advanced Open Water course is the most popular "Phase 2" for new divers. It is designed to advance your skills, extend your depth limits, and introduce you to new ways to dive, all under the supervision of an instructor.

This course is all about practical experience. There are no long exams or heavy classroom sessions. Instead, you will complete 5 Adventure Dives over a single weekend, giving you a real-world introduction to specialized diving activities.

Why Take Your Advanced Open Water?

• Unlock 100 Feet (30m): The most immediate benefit. This certification qualifies you to dive deeper than 60 feet, giving you access to deeper shipwrecks and walls that Open Water divers can't reach.

• Sample the Specialties: It’s a "tasting menu" of diving. Try Night Diving, Wreck Diving, or Boat Diving to see what you enjoy most before committing to a full specialty course.

• Build Confidence: You will refine your buoyancy, navigation, and consumption rates, bridging the gap between a "beginner" and a "competent diver."

• Credit Forward: Each Adventure Dive you complete counts as the first dive of that specific Specialty Course!

What You Will Learn

The course consists of 5 dives. Two are mandatory to ensure your safety and competence, and three are electives you can choose based on your interests.

The Core Dives (Required):

1. Deep Diving: Learn to manage your gas and safety protocols at deeper depths.

2. Underwater Navigation: Move beyond basic straight lines and learn to navigate reciprocals and use natural clues.

The Elective Dives (Pick 3): Customize your course with options like:

• Boat Diving (Essential for Florida!)

• Night & Limited Visibility

• Wreck Diving

• Perfect Buoyancy

• Search & Recovery

• Enriched Air Nitrox (Optional add-on)

Prerequisites

• Must be an Open Water Diver (or Junior Open Water Diver).

• Minimum age: 10 years old (12 years old for Deep dive requirement).
