Diving in a current can feel like flying underwater. In the Drift Diver course, you’ll learn drift diving tips from an experienced instructor and practice buoyancy control, navigation, use of surface signaling equipment and buddy communication.
Scuba diving in a current can be both relaxing and exhilarating. You may slowly glide over a reef, or zoom over an underwater landscape so fast it feels like flying. By the end of your drift diver course, you’ll have the skills you need to confidently go with the flow.

What you can expect to learn

Course Equipment Requirements

Each student will be responsible for providing the following gear:

  • BCD
  • Regulator
  • Dive Computer
  • Mask, Fins, Snorkel, Etc. 
  • Exposure protection (if needed)

Required Specialty Equipment:

  • Reel(s)
  • Delayed Surface Marker Buoy

We have rental gear available for an additional cost.

When enrolled in a course with Space Coast Dive Center you will receive a 10% student discount on all gear purchases. 

Course Prerequisites

Age Requirement:

10 years or older

Course Prerequisite:

Open Water Diver certification

All divers must be medically fit to dive. Please reach out to the Dive Center for the most up to date version of the diver medical form. 

How do I get Started?

During two dives in a current, you’ll practice buoyancy control, navigation and buddy communication. Practice using a delayed surface marker buoy (DSMB), float, line, reel, or other drift diving safety equipment.
