PADI ReActivate
The PADI ReActivate™ program is basically a refresher course designed for certified divers who’ve been out of the water for a while and want to brush up on knowledge and skills before diving again. It’s personalized, flexible, and helps you regain confidence and comfort underwater.

1. Knowledge Review (Online or In-Person)
-
You complete an eLearning module (on computer, tablet, or phone) that covers the key safety concepts, dive planning, and problem management.
-
Topics include:
-
Dive planning and the buddy system
-
Equalization and buoyancy control
-
Hand signals and underwater communication
-
Gas management and no-decompression limits
-
Emergency procedures (lost buddy, out-of-air, etc.)
-
-
You can move quickly through areas you remember and spend more time where you need it.
2. Confined Water (Pool or Pool-like Environment)
-
With an instructor, you’ll refresh core scuba skills such as:
-
Mask clearing and removal/replacement
-
Regulator recovery and clearing
-
Buoyancy control and hovering
-
Alternate air source use (air-sharing)
-
Emergency weight drop
-
Basic ascent procedures and safety stops
-
3. Optional Open Water Dives
-
While not always required, many divers (and instructors) choose to do at least one open water dive to practice skills in a real setting.
-
This is especially helpful if you’re planning to dive soon after ReActivate, or if it’s been a long time since your last dive.
4. Updated Certification Card
-
After completion, you receive a new PADI ReActivated card with your original certification level and “ReActivated” date.
-
This shows dive shops and resorts that your skills and knowledge are up to date, which can make it easier to book dives, especially if it’s been years since your last logged dive.
✅ Good to know:
-
The program is customizable—your instructor may focus more on the skills you feel rusty on.
-
It’s not a new certification; it’s a refresher and recognition of your updated readiness.
-
Time commitment is usually half a day to one day depending on how much you do.
